Annalore's German Bakery

When we (my class)  first entered the bakery I automatically smelled the delicious homemade pastries. It was a very clean environment and it gave off good vibes. I also noticed all of the pastries are in a large glass container on display. There were cute decorations like flowers and paintings, and the only thing I would recommend to change is the amount of space there was in the bakery. It was a bit too large of a place for the nice cozy feeling I was looking for, but overall it was a really cute first impression.

When I stepped up to order the lady gave off an upbeat fun style. (good vibes). I asked her some questions about certain desserts, like the toppings on pastries, or what's inside them. She answered confidently and definitely knew what she was doing. I ordered the Prizegengenten Torte, a 14 layer cake filled with chocolaty goodness. I also ordered an apple turnover. (apples are my favorite). She used gloves to take the food out of the case and also used tongs. It was very quick, clean, and good service.

The food was incredible. Especially the cake. It was exploding with flavor, but wasn’t too powerful. Normally you would think of cake as a warm gooey fluff, but this cake was cold and smooth which I liked. I would highly recommend this pastry if you love a sweet chocolaty cake. Second, the apple turnover was perfect. It had a gooey and doughy consistency in the middle and the exterior was baked to a perfectly flaky crisp. When I took a bite, the middle was filled with beautifully baked apple chunks. It was a very sweet and warm pastry. I will definitely be coming back many times again to Annelore’s German Bakery, the treats were sweet and savory, so if you have a sweet tooth you would love this delicious German bakery.

El Amigo Mexican Grille

I had a wonderful time at El Amigo’s! The restaurant had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that immediately made me feel like I was truly in Mexico. The walls were covered with vibrant paintings and photographs depicting scenes and people from Mexico on a red painted wall. It truly felt like a little slice of Mexico right here in North Carolina.

Me and a party of twelve people came. As many of us that were there the food came out pretty quickly, around ten minutes. He had everyone order one at a time and gave us numbers for our orders.  The service was very good and the people were great and kind. The only thing that I would change is when you came up to order there was a clear white wall in between us so I couldn’t hear him that well. But overall the service was very good.

When our food arrived, my friends and I stepped outside to discover a charming, barn‑style pavilion. It was such a delightful addition. The outdoor‌ space felt peaceful and thoughtfully designed, with cozy tables nestled under generous shade. There was a soft tune of Mexican music in the background. It added a warm, rustic vibe to our meal and made hanging out even more enjoyable.

I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a side of rice. The rice was a vibrant orange color, very appetizing from the first looks and it got even better from there. The rice truly tasted like an authentic Mexican side dish and on a good note it went very well with the chicken quesadillas. Their chicken is very well seasoned and tasted rich and delightful. It had a strong savoring smell that made me want to dig right in. And when the cheese, flour tortilla, and savory chicken was combined, it made a rich, satisfying harmony of flavors. I would highly recommend this place. It is an open environment and very homey. It has great food and is amazing. If you love Mexican restaurants this is the place to go.

Di Faras Pizza Tavern

Di Fara is a fun pizza tavern if you have some extra time to sit down and enjoy delicious pizza. As soon as I walked in, I was struck by the number of screens surrounding the bar, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. Even more TVs lined the opposite side of the restaurant, making it a great spot for catching a game from any angle. I was also impressed to see they earned a 100% sanitation rating. That was a reassuring sign of their commitment to cleanliness.

Before you sat down to order your food you could see behind the counter a huge open oven for the pizzas to be placed in.My party of 12 was seated at three connected tables, which accommodated us comfortably. We started with two baskets of garlic knots they each contained 24 pieces. We also ordered three pizzas: one cheese, one pepperoni, and one white. The service was efficient, though the staff didn’t engage with us much, so it was a bit difficult to get a full sense of their hospitality. I also ordered a lemonade, which came with free refills; that was a nice bonus.

The garlic knots came out first, and they were absolutely incredible — almost beyond words. Soft, warm, and cooked to perfection, each bite was like a buttery, garlicky cloud of deliciousness. They set the bar high for the rest of the meal. Truly some of the best I have ever had.

After a bit of a wait, about 30 minutes, the pizzas finally arrived. The delay definitely built up my appetite, making me even more eager to dig in when they hit the table, but we were watching the tennis game on the huge TV in front of me which made the wait feel shorter, still I was like a hungry hippo waiting for my next meal. And finally, it arrived.

The cheese pizza was warm and crispy. They used good cheese on it and that added a lot of great flavors. But, on the downside some of the slices had piles of basil on them, in other words, way too much basil. My friends and I  had a ton of fun so I would definitely recommend this place for a large group of people. Di Fara Pizza Tavern was a great place to hang out with friends and have a lot of fun. The garlic knots were incredible and the pizza was great too.

Geluma Gelato

Geluma Gelato was one of the best gelato places I have ever been to. When you walk in you can feel the cold climate immediately. I also noticed that they had super cute decorations all around the shop.  There were teal walls in some places and white in others, the paintings were also really cute and they had a little counter with a tab for water which included paper cups in case you get thirsty. I could definitely tell they had a professional come in.

The servers at first just started at us but once you get to talk to them they are very kind. They asked me if I wanted a free wafer cookie on the top of my ice cream. It almost tasted like a crunchy waffle and was very good with my gelato. They smiled when they handed me my gelato and I smiled back, so overall they were actually really kind and had good attitudes.

I got in the short line to order my gelato. Out of all of the amazing flavors to choose from I picked a small classic milk chocolate. The picture shown above was the coffee flavored gelato in a small cup. For a small ice cream it actually wasn’t too small, and I was already full from eating my lunch. But this was so incredibly delicious I had all of it.

When they served it out the women gave me a really cute spoon to eat with. It was a clear pink color and had a little dip on the end of it. When I put my spoon in the gelato you could feel how soft it was. I scooped a small mouthful of it out and the ice cream stretched onto my spoon. It tasted like a part of heaven, each bite better than the last. The chocolate was cold, creamy and soft. And There was a small sensational crunch from the ice and a delicious sweet chocolaty flavor that lasted for a long time.

At the end of this sweet adventure I am so excited to beg my mom to come back to Geluma Gelato. I highly recommend this for a casual date or just a fun little outing with some close friends.

Kibabish Cafe

My friends and I had a good time at Kibabish Cafe! When we first walked in there was a beautiful fountain waiting for you. Around 10 glass looking cubs poured water down to each other and into the rocks at the bottom. The atmosphere was a little dim but it looked really cool because of the different colored lights hanging around the room. A big sign on the wall around a bunch of lights said Kababish Cafe! It was a really cool looking place.

When we sat down the seats were nice and squishy and the booths seated four people. The man was very kind and asked what drinks we wanted and what we would like. We got an appetizer, kababish wings. It came out very quickly and the man placed it in the middle of the table. The menu said there was supposed to be five wings, but the man served us seven.

In the middle of the plate was a bowl of spicy barbecue sauce. When you dipped the wings in the sauce it was incredible. The sauce went very well with the chicken, it was spicy and sweet. The chicken by itself was also good but a little dry, so I would definitely recommend it with the sauce especially if you like spicy food.

For my entree I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. I was expecting a normal fried chicken on bread to come out but instead the chicken wasn’t fried. It had this bready like skin on the outside and smelled like a bunch of seasoning was lathered on. From the first bite, I understood why this dish stood out. The seasoning was bold and aromatic, delivering a rich and powerful flavor. The chicken was tender and succulent, perfectly cooked without any chewiness. Each mouthful made the Indian cuisine stand out even more. The fries also took me away. They were very crispy and well cooked. When they were dipped in ketchup it danced around in my mouth.

In the end, all of the food we ate was authentic and delicious.I usually don’t have Indian food but I could tell this was the stuff to get.If you love Indian food you will totally like Kababish Cafe. Whenever I feel like Indian food this will pop in my mind. The place looked amazing and the food was even better.

Chocolate Smiles

Today I went to a chocolate shop called Chocolate Smiles! When I walked in I got a big whiff of sweet, strong, and delicious chocolate. The store was pretty big and went around the corner with a huge glass case of a big variety of chocolates. There were so many types and it was so big. When you went around the corner there was also a part where they held sugar free chocolates.

The owner of the shop, Ms. Melonie was super kind and gave us samples. She smiled the entire time and had a sweet attitude. Ms. Melonie also shared how to make the chocolate. She definitely knows what she is doing and how to make the delicious chocolate I know well.

Most of her chocolate was very cheap but is homemade and fresh. Truffles, on the other hand, are more expensive. But for what truffles are, they are a good price.

There were a bunch of cute decorations, on the ceiling were big jelly belly beans and there were tee shirts on a shelf that had cute chocolate puns on the back. In the back of the chocolate shop was a small shop full of mugs, cards, and so many more gifts.

The only problem was the size of the shop. When you wanted to pass someone to look on the other side of the shop, it was a little hard to get passed because of the narrow path.  But other than that the decorations and look of the shop was on point.

There are three types of assortments you can get: I got eight chocolates for nine dollars. Not a bad price!  There were so many options to choose from; from mint meltaways, all the way to almond clusters. They were all so good. But, I cannot write about all of them so I wrote about my favorite one: dark chocolate meltaways.

When I smelled them I could tell right away it was original and rich. But when I put in it was unreal, the chocolate was soft and melted in my mouth. No wonder they called it meltaways.

It was super smooth and powerful. Even though it was a small piece, the taste stayed in my mouth for a very long time. The rich and smooth texture gave me a real hint of authentic chocolate from this sweet and sugary shop.

So overall, the looks and service from Chocolate Smiles was perfect. And the chocolate flavors and freshness was on point. I am very glad I went and will be coming back to Chocolate Smiles again and again. It is a perfect place to get a gift for a holiday or just get a sweet treat after a long day of work.
